Sony DCR-PC330 IR Enabled

DISCONTINUED - This model has been superceded by the DCR-PC350.  You can see more information Here.

Model: XNiteSonyPC330

Mini DV Infrared Capable Camcorder!  At 59 millimeters thick and weighing 540 grams, this Sony DCR-PC330BT is an incredible camcorder made even better when we added Re-Enabled  Niteshot.  Re-Enabled Niteshot means that, unlike a stock factory camcorder,  you can shoot in IR mode with complete aperture control, focusing control and every normal camera function.  Zeiss Optics, 3,310,000 pixel CCD, Memory Stick, Firewire (IEEE 1394), 3.040 Megapixel Digital Camera capability.

Externally, there are no visual changes. Internally, we have modified the optics so that the camera can see from 330nm to 1200nmx versus a stock camera which can see from about 380nm to 750nm

 Specifications

Complete X-Ray Functionality!  Full Infrared (IR) capability with all normal camera functions including aperture control.  You can use the IR features on a sunny beach with no overexposure problems that a stock factory camcorder would have.

Special Note:  This modified camera must use our XNite-CC1 color correction filter for normal (non-IR) pictures.  This modified camera is sensitive to both IR and visible light.  If you take pictures with no filters, the camera will see both the IR light and visible light which will alter the correct color balance.  To take normal pictures, use the camera with a XNite-CC1 filter to block IR and pass visible.  Please see example pictures on color balance here.  To take IR (X-Ray) pictures, you should use one of our XNite IR filters which block visible light and pass IR.

The 37mm filters for this camera are available Here.

•  PCM Stereo Audio
Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) recording for an incredible 96db dynamic range. The Digital camcorder provides two recording modes, 12 and 16-bit audio. 12-bit creates two sets of stereo tracks, and 16-bit mode offers one pair of stereo tracks. Audio dub capability allows you to add an additional 12-bit stereo track to your original recording.
•  Analog-to-Digital Conversion with Pass-Through
The camcorder analog inputs feature a built-in Analog-to-Digital converter that will convert your analog video/audio to a digital signal that can either be recorded to tape or passed through the i.Link interface to a compatible computer.
•  i.Link DV Interface
The i.Link DV In/Out interface (IEEE-1394) provides a high-speed, bi-directional digital link between camcorders or VCRs for digital-to-digital editing, which delivers unmatched versatility and performance.
•  USB Interface

•  Progressive Shutter System
A mechanical shutter system that provides Progressive Scan performance while utilizing an interlaced scanning system. Digital still images will be sharp and clear with excellent definition.
•  Zoom
The camcorder features a 10x optical, 120x precision digital zoom which allows you to zoom in on subjects or pull back for wide shots. In addition, precision digital zoom interpolation technology means that extreme digital zooming is cleaner, with less distortion than previous types of digital zoom.
•  Digital Program Editing
Allows you to select a sequence of 20 scenes and rearrange them via i.Link (IEEE-1394) to i.Link (IEEE-1394) or to an Analog VCR.
•  Intelligent Accessory Shoe
Provides power, on/off, and special operational commands to a variety of Sony intelligent accessories, via a multi-pin interface. This enables easy synchronized operation between the camcorder and such accessories as video lights and microphones, without additional batteries or cables.
•  Smooth Interval Record
A form of video recording (Time Lapse Recording) that allows for extremely smooth, time elapsed video. Various recording intervals and recording time can be specified to suit the type of situation being recorded.
•  Manual Focus Ring
Allows the user to adjust the camera's focus for more creativity and/or effects. Manual focusing also allows the user to control the camera's focus in difficult shooting situations.
Expanded Focus Indicator: While using the manual focus ring, the camera automatically adjusts to 2x magnification, allowing for extremely accurate focus adjustment.
•  Super SteadyShot Picture Stabilization
This advanced version of Sony's SteadyShot system controls an even higher range of shake and vibration freguencies, to achieve an even higher level of smoothness, without degradation of video.
•  2.5-inch Precision-Touch Screen LCD
Features a 2.5" touch panel precision LCD screen, with 211,000 pixels, for clear and sharp images. The screen swivels up to 270 degrees and can be adjusted to the popular 'mirror' mode.
On-screen touch panel system allows you to navigate through the camera's 3D menu system, by touching the LCD screen.
•  Precision Color Viewfinder
The camcorder's precision viewfinder incorporates 180,000 pixels. Increased pixel count provides more detail and clarity of video subjects.
•  Hologram AF Low Light Laser Assist Focus System
Hologram AF (Auto Focus) Low Light Laser Assist Focus system uses lasers for improved edge detection in low-light situations, allowing focusing to be more accurate for digital still images.
•  EXIF 2.2
EXIF stands for Exchangeable Image File Format and is a standard for storing interchange information in image files, especially those using JPEG compression. Most digital cameras now use the EXIF format. The format is part of the DCF standard to encourage interoperability between imaging devices.
•  Digital Still Memory Mode
In Memory mode, digital still images can be captured and stored directly onto Sony's memory stick media.
•  Memory Stick Slot
Sony Memory Stick compatible. Sony's digital storage medium Memory Stick allows super flexible storage of still or moving images, as well as digital audio and other text or command information. Memory Stick provides a quick and easy transfer of your digital camcorder to a PC, to editing device, to printer, to display system and back again.
•  Playback Zoom
During video playback, pause mode, or while viewing still images stored on the Memory Stick media, you can zoom in up to 5x closer. You can then store these enlarged images onto the Memory Stick media.
•  Program AE
Features a 6-mode Program Auto Exposure for the proper exposure in a variety of situations: Portrait, Beach and Ski, Sports Lesson, Landscape, Spotlight, Sunset and Moon.
•  Super NightShot Infrared System and Color Slow Shutter
With this feature, you can capture video even when shooting in total darkness (0 lux), using the camcorder's infrared system up to 10 feet away. Super NightShot recording mode automatically adjusts the shutter speed to increase picture brightness and clarity.
Color Slow Shutter mode allows you to record in low-light situations with full color detail, by slowing down the shutter speed.
•  Battery Information
Battery information is displayed for 7 seconds on the LCD screen or viewfinder when charging and when the camera is turned off. The display will show how much the battery is charged in 10 percent increments and the recordable time left, using either the LCD screen or the viewfinder.
•  Intelligent Pop-Up Flash
Intelligent Flash is capable of determining the precise exposure level appropriate for your shot, based on the actual angle and subject to be captured. It fires a pre flash sequence which is reflected back and detected by the CCD, before the main flash fires. This is superior to conventional flash systems where exposure level is detected, based on the aggregate illumination of the surroundings, which may wrongly influence the exposure settings.
•  Simultaneous Record Mode
While in video recording mode, you can easily take a snapshot with just the press of a button.
•  14-bit DXP A/D Conversion
Captures the dynamic range between light and dark areas of your subject, providing an overall improvement and more natural picture reproduction - without losing detail such as highlights and shadows.
